Default estimate: the game unlocks at midnight local time on 19 November 2026 on both platforms.
When does GTA VI unlock in my timezone?
Rockstar says Grand Theft Auto VI releases at midnight local time on 19 November 2026 in all regions, on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Midnight arrives at a different moment in each timezone, so the game does not unlock everywhere at once.
The calculator turns midnight in your timezone into a fixed moment and shows it in UTC as well. That is the figure to compare with a friend.
How the calculation works
Pick your timezone and platform. The calculator finds the UTC moment when the clock in your timezone reads 00:00 on 19 November 2026, then shows that moment in your time and in UTC. Choose a friend’s timezone to see their unlock moment written in your local time.
- In Auckland the game unlocks at 11:00 UTC on 18 November, which is 11:00 that morning in London.
- In New York it unlocks at 05:00 UTC on 19 November, because New York is on UTC-5 in November.
- Someone in Auckland can start playing about 13 hours before a player in London.
The countdown uses your device clock, so it is only as accurate as that clock. It updates every 30 seconds while the page is open.

Practical tips
- Pre-loading does not make the game playable early. It only downloads the files ahead of time.
- Check you have room first with the GTA VI Storage Calculator, estimate the download with the GTA VI Download Time Calculator, and see the total bill with the GTA VI Cost Calculator.

FAQ
What time does GTA VI release?
Midnight local time on 19 November 2026, according to Rockstar’s regional times page updated on 3 November 2026.
Does GTA VI unlock at the same time worldwide?
No. It unlocks at midnight in each timezone, so players in New Zealand reach it before players in the United States.
Does Xbox pre-load start earlier than PS5?
For players west of the UK it can. Xbox pre-load opens at 12 a.m. GMT, while PS5 pre-load opens at local midnight. For players east of the UK the PS5 start comes first.
Does daylight saving change the time?
It changes the offset, not the rule. Midnight local time is always midnight local time, but the matching UTC moment depends on whether your region is on summer or winter time on 19 November 2026. The calculator applies the rules for that date.
Could the date or time change?
Yes. Rockstar can revise release details. This page was last checked on 8 November 2026, so confirm on the store page for your console before you plan around it.
This is a planning estimate, not an official countdown. Verify high-stakes timing, such as time off work, against Rockstar and your console store.
